Hello everyone welcome to the style defines this podcast today we are talking about the fall 2023 Trends this is the fall 2023 Trend report brought to you from the mother daughter Duo of the style that binds us so what were some trends that we saw for fall mom
There are so many there are so many many Trends and this year we really found some that we love you know in the past it was we were in lockdown so we were all covered up and cocooned and taking care of ourselves and soothing ourselves and
Then as we came out of our shells we were sort of straddling the line where last year we saw things coming down the runway sort of suiting but in these very relaxed fabrics and and shapes and everything and they were worn with sneakers and now it’s like we are back
Right everything they were stomping down the runways and fabulous glamorous grown-up clothes great attention to tailoring and everything else exactly so some of the will give you an overview some of the trends that we’re going to be talking about today it’s boss dressing or as Mom calls it
Grown-up dressing we have quiet luxury bold color textured metallics leather on leather and animal print so shall we Jump Right In sure for those who are listening to this we also have a video version there will be a Blog on the south finds this website and we will
Include these Graphics that we’re going to be referring to while we are going through all of our Trends then will it be shopping oh yes we’re gonna we’re going to make it shoppable awesome jackets and shoes and earrings anything that will give you even just a pop of color but you can see
These are all just glorious looks I love every single one of those pieces Beyond I know I am all about the cherry red this season I am eyeing I want a cherry red blazer and I want cherry red boots so that you need red boots because you
Had those and you were a tiny little girl red cowboy boots that you wore everywhere with every dress oh my gosh look at that Jason Loop laser I would die to have that and his dress I mean they’re all gorgeous pieces and Jason would never disappoints oh no so elegant
And fabulous so fall 2023 is all about dressing like a boss which is one of my favorite Trends because when I turn 30 I am now a fresh 30 too but when I turned 30 all I wanted to do was dress like a boss and so there was something in the
Water this season and every single brand even if they don’t usually they had boss dressing but anyway into Tailoring not super tight but fitting skimming the body and you are definitely the boss there’s no doubt about that next we’re going to talk about animal print and animal print you know people that’s a
Trend because it’s really a perennial Trend and it comes and goes but this year people really got creative with animal print I loved the things that Tom Ford did he’s Tom Ford so his pieces were super sexy and they also they almost look like they were metallic or
Sort of they had some Sheen to them and we saw a bunch of these oversized jackets coats some that were touching the floor even and a lot in faux fur you look at the one from Bottega venator that’s almost like uh reminds you have 101 Dalmatians right and I loved that Trent
Somehow it has a Sheen to it I mean how cool is that and that’s um you know Jean on top gene on bottom which I love too so as you can see everything from oversized coats to look at that Stella McCartney we know for sure that’s faux fur
Um it’s just all really stand out easy things to wear right but really create drama they do and when you invest in a piece like this it all of animal print of course it comes around it is a perennial Trend so if you get it this
Season you can wear it for many many years to come so don’t worry about that you’ll see it also in shoes and bags and things we have some more animal print that’s Stella McCartney oh my goodness she did it in France at this there was like outside of Paris about a stable or
Something this fabulous collection schiapparelli I mean what Daniel’s doing is beyond Johanna Ortiz has just blown us all out of the water for years and years to come and then this naily coat is also fabulous I love everything that she does she’s she’s really great for
Um everyday looks with an edge right she is she has such a huge following and yeah exciting I love animal prints are you boots and for fall months your boots actually because boots can be really comfortable unless you’re wearing super hot you know stilettos but they are
Everywhere and the thigh high boot is everywhere which I always love because you know if you don’t want to have your leg exposed so much it gives you a lot of coverage plus it’s great in the when it’s chilly but everything from like a Batista Valley those have no heel and
There look how high they are they go all the way up and then you have suede you have gorgeous different Leathers like at Isabel ero obviously that super French glamor that’s kind of that boot you want right that silver boot and um that’s another way to be modern and
Also elegant and sophisticated and comfortable grown-up dressing you love this one as do I yes most definitely so when you think about the past year so many of my clients would say there’s nothing out there for me because there were lots and lots and lots of sort of baby doll
Dresses and dresses with little micro floral prints and smocking and all nice things but for grown women you know many don’t feel like that’s something that they would want to wear it reminds them of their childhood pretty much so now it’s like even if it is a print it’s a
Silk print with space in between it’s very elegant it’s almost retro you know some of this stuff is old Hollywood to me too and like at Ferragamo that neckline to die for everyone that looks good on pretty much everybody because the shoulders are the last place to to
Age and it naturally brings the focus up to your face and Alexander McQueen his suiting is has blown out the water because of course Kate Middleton wears them you know that red suit I think she wore a white one too they’re just Exquisite they really are a lot of my
Clients were screenshotting and sending me this picture who is this what is this how can we get this so that’s interesting because it’s a different look than what a lot of people think of Alexander McQueen with the skulls and everything right yeah well Sarah Barton is right it’s behind it she’s doing an
Amazing job so if you look at Dolce Gabbana that’s just an elegant beautiful grown-up look and then Saint Laurent that’s so when you see something like that that’s what day was talking about the boss dressing the grown-up dressing this is an example that is exaggerated and we talked to someone from Sauron
They were talking about all of those jackets will be paired down there’s one or two maybe that are kind of outrageous like red plaid and things like that they’re going to keep them with those really oversized shoulder padded Styles because true fashionistas you know will have a blast wearing that but
For all of us it’s definitely you can look at it it’s not a soft cozy little look it’s like hello we are here I know when we’re re-looking at all the runway shows we were like oh my gosh I remember in February and during fashion month
When we were so excited about thaw and now it is actually here and this season I’m also really excited to play with belts I feel like I do not utilize belts enough see how this Saint Laurent looks She’s Incorporated that belt into it so I’m going to get very into the belts
This season I’ll have you know I’m just can’t wait to see yep I am preparing you in advance get ready for Delia in her belts here’s more grown-up dressing right and this your trenches I mean come on this is really your your basic pieces but trenches were all over the runway
Which we haven’t seen coats and you know I was at home so people the designers had a blast with all these different style coaches coats and super long coats um Balenciaga has that trench Kate had a trench um several different people that normally wouldn’t put a trench on the runway
Necessarily showed their trenches I mean how basic and how fabulous the trench the black turtleneck the like the wide leg Jean just amazing look right so we have this last the Ralph Lauren we have two looks from them Max Mara and then Loire mommy love that Loire look well
Because it’s that same neckline that I’m talking about that shawl sort of and it’s really hard to find and it’s truly one of my very favorite necklines I think it looks so feminine and beautiful elegant but also a little sexy and you can see how this skims the body that’s
Almost like a trench coat too with the button so it’s really interesting um Ralph Lauren with the Pinstripe I mean that was everywhere like really you know CEO executive presence here understated colors and then prep is back I love that look and that look is like oh I’m sure
Most of you are looking at that going well I’ve worn that kind of thing for years or I have that in my closet so yeah so bring it out it’s like prep with a modern twist kind of another major trend for fall 2023 is leather on leather we have the Givenchy
Look at this full leather look so it looks like the dress is leather and that fabulous coat and you we both love leather but you especially love leather and you look great great in it so you can see at the sale around there those huge shoulder
Pads that we were talking about but also look at two other things look at the pencil skirt and leather how amazing and one thing I’m so excited about I saw a lot on the runways on her stockings those super sheer black stockings so French so Femme Fatale absolutely love
It and you know in the winter it doesn’t make sense to not wear any hose right it just doesn’t and tights black tight sometimes are so dark so um if you want to feel really elegant and very grown up go get yourself a pair of beautiful sexy silk or silk looking
Some of the silk ones are going to be exorbitantly expensive but anyway it’s very elegant look um and that last one by Chloe is so cute too right Fringe Fringe the runway so you guys it’s one is going to go for a metallic fringe look but we wanted to
Let you know that it is a big big thing and it’s always fascinating too when you wonder how do all these designers do something that’s sort of not simple they’re not copying each other but the similar ideas with these fabrics and things and that’s where all designs
Start that’s where the trends start with the fabrics and materials that they are showing for the year so all the designers go and look and and they’re like oh this is cool and this is their own iteration of it so Tom Brown that is so Tom Brown
Isn’t it with the men’s suiting for women in the tie and everything and then that gray color that’s so big this year and then the Rabon they used to be Paco Rabon now they’ve brought the Paco and that’s a cool look and that’s certainly uh very metallic and I love that one
From laquan Smith I mean how much fun would that be to wear that yeah right and then the other one is just gorgeous but fun I don’t know how you would actually wear it too much in real life but you certainly would more look at these gorgeous things I
Mean trees with those pants too and then that Belmont I mean can you imagine you have to be a certain person to wear it or you’re going to be lost in there you have to wear really high heels I would think but um they’re just all those are
Great examples I don’t even are you familiar with hodorokoia I don’t know that I am but I love that dress so interesting isn’t it Rodarte I mean I think of them as floral dark florals almost you know this ethereal kind of almost golfed feminine type thing and that is full on hello
We’re here that’s amazing the Valentino so that can be something that anyone can wear men or women and then look at that other one this Hoda Koya is that shell that is a v you keep saying why you can’t see that kova what do you think those are I mean
Are those like looks almost like shells or pearls or something or Earth drops I don’t know what it is but it’s gorgeous ornaments I know and then the Valentino so this skinny black tie a lot of the designers showed these show ties they sound their looks or ties and
Specifically these skinny black ties so if that is something that you would be up for doing you will be on Trend I wonder if that’s going to be one of those trends that in the beginning people are like I would never do that and then they get so used to seeing it
Everywhere then they try it I mean Tom Brown has obviously been doing that for women for years oh I love that oh snakes who want to just take a deep breath it’s so Exquisite quiet luxury tell us quiet luxury is is just my favorite but you know the only problem is sometimes it
Can be super expensive it turns out that the more simple a piece is the more expensive it is because of how much harder it is you know more difficult to make it exactly perfect if you have a print something a busy kind of dress you can’t tell if the Hem isn’t exactly
Match for example and things like that so anyway with the national obsession with the TV show succession this idea about Stealth wealth and quiet luxury came about and then people on Tick Tock picked it up and everything else but it what it really means is beautiful understated muted colors for
The most part logo free but gorgeous quality so when someone sees you you’re not just wearing a simple black coat you’re wearing a stunningly you know heart-stoppingly perfect coat right and the only thing like I said was is about the pieces being more expensive but what that means if you look at these
Pieces the row I mean they’ve always done this look right um and Michael Kors that’s really an understated but sexy look but I think that these are investment pieces right these are Timeless with a little bit of a couture-ish look to them so if you go for Timeless looks you know you can
Think okay well I’m going to have this coat hopefully you know for the rest of my life or for years so make sure when you choose these things that they fit you perfectly or you get them tailored because you really want to it’ll be that piece that you go to again
And again and again yes exactly and it might be understated is dramatic it is so fabulous elegant Chic sophisticated you most definitely are going to stand out when that when you walk in that room people are going to be like who is that and you’re in
Just a silk white blouse and black pants right exactly more examples more examples look at Michael Kors he is really going for this monochromatic look and that that’s another uh part of this to the monochromatic I think about Chev from the show from succession in the first
Season she had this long wavy hair and her clothes were kind of almost looked like college student clothes oversized sweaters and stuff like that you know with Aztec prints and things like that and then by the end of the last season you know she had this very Sleek hairstyle monochromatic colors Gorgeous
Fabrics and it was really interesting to see how they use the clothes to develop her character I thought that and also show these were very wealthy people because they were wearing these very understood but you know if you know you know kind of kind of pieces kind of
Snobby but anyway Laura Piana has always done it too so but look at stodds Todd is a is a great price point and that’s a very elegant look too yes this trend is also stealth welp we hope you enjoyed learning about all the trends so now what you should do is
To think about for yourself which Trends do you want to add to your wardrobe what is on your shopping list for this season and now you know what pieces you already have in your wardrobe that you want to plan outfits around that feature some of these Trends and you can go all out
Or you can incorporate these Trends into your looks and into your wardrobe this season in a more subtle way so for example leather on leather if you’re not comfortable wearing a leather jumpsuit or leather pant and top then you could just wear leather accessories or you
Could wear a pencil skirt or just that leather jacket with bold colors if you don’t want to wear a full bold or a full head to toe metallic look you can just incorporate that into your accessories and things like that right and think about your purchases about how you can
Wear them in various ways there’s those they’re sort of wide leg high waisted but gathered at the waist a little bit black leather pants that are great you can dress them up with a silk oh yeah on top and really high heels or you can wear them with a sweater half tucked in

Love quiet luxury those are probably my two favorite and you know those you probably have some of those things in your closet already yes exactly so that’s what’s so fun about fashion is really challenging yourself to come up with outfits in Creative new ways so as Trends come you compare these pieces in
Different ways than you thought of before and so don’t think like oh this is such a basic or plain outfit if you are thinking that then Mom can help you figure out how to take that look from basic to to statement because like if you’re just wearing a white tee and
Jeans the way that Grace Kelly or Princess Diana would wear it might be different than the outfit that you come up with so Mom can help you make it seem to be super Chic like Jane Birkin or it can be blocked right exactly what are you excited about oh my gosh there’s too
Many things to mention I am obsessed I’m wearing it now this cherry red I’m totally loving that so maybe I already mentioned it but I want a red blazer also plaid I am obsessed with plaid so every single fall I fall in love with plaids anything plaid I love this the
A-line mini skirt I have so many them but I will always be happy to have more and I want some metallic boots or red boots as I mentioned I mean really any of those things in the graphics I would be so happy to wear hello Santa
